This selection of photographs comes from James Sorrie's personal photograph album and all appear to be located on the Headquarters Site and date around 1954. This photo shows James's mother, Odette Sorrie, outside the family accommodation. The hanging curtain by the window shows a woman's touch, and the quality of the building is far superior to the Nissen huts originally allocated to Officers. Given the date of 1954 and the fact that the Prisoners of War had left some years before, then I think that one of the POW living quarters has been completely refurbished and designed to hold one family instead of 30 men or perhaps building No.34, one of four huts erected by the unit close to the wooded edge. Notice part of the double doors behind Odette has been permanently fixed closed. © James Sorrie.
