BROKE INTO HAYLE GARAGE

Two soldiers imprisoned

Sentences of tweleve months and nine months respectively were passed on Harry Woodman (24) and Norman Raynor (25), soldiers, at Cornwall Quarter Sessions at Bodmin on Tuesday for breaking and entering Mellanear Garage, Hayle, and stealing money and tools to the value of £5 and attempting to steal money, the property of H.M.Paymaster General. Two other soldiers, George Proctor (21), and Eric Brennan (30), were bound over for one year. All pleaded 'Guilty'.

Mr. C.W.L. Jervis (Penzance) said that while attempting to rob a telephone kiosk, the soldiers were accosted by the police, and then admitted breaking into the garage.

An Army officer said Woodman led Proctor and Brennan astray; neither Raynor nor Woodman was wanted back in the Army.
